12.50 am here and the strong winds have arrived, thought to be the worst of the whole last few days. Gusts of around 90 km/hour have been recorded.
And I had to chase away the enemy Siamese cat earlier, taking shelter in my window sill. Tonight of all nights, it shouldn't be out but I suspect the people let it out when it gets active at night.
Rain is expected too and I may not be able to get out tomorrow as I don't fancy getting wet and being blown sideways.
Will remain to be seen if the power stays on tomorrow too.

It's warm and (so far) dry, but so heavily overcast that I haven't bothered to open the curtains.

It has been so pleasant these last few days - a little rain but nothing to worry about and generally warm (but not hot or humid) and sunny. Late August/September/October are often the nicest season in Maine.

Morning dawns and with it, six blown over bins (not unexpected - the neighbour offered to put mine in her garage for today) Hearing that some wind gusts were around 100 km/hour.
133 km/h wind gust was recorded at Mount Gellibrand
131 km/h wind gust was recorded at Falls Creek - the Victorian alpine area 113 km/h wind gust was recorded at St Kilda Harbour - this is in the inner city area
A minor miracle that my area still has power, many others have lost it and emergency crews are now out in the elements battling it to chop trees and fix wires etc.
I didn't sleep well all night - my nerve pain hurting.
And a blown down section of the neighbouring side fence - that's for the owner's corporation to deal with. It's possible that when something was built on the empty block that the fence would be replaced - it may have been done anyway with something built on the empty block.
Overnight and with rain hitting the window, it seriously sounded like a cyclone.

I was following its progress on the lightning tracker, from which I surmise that the gods are particularly displeased with the folk of Cromhall.

Finally no strong winds so I could sleep. Still a bit overcast and while no rain forecast for today, I'm not so sure. Erring on the side of caution and taking my raincoat anyway.

I have the window open to a mingled soundscape in the dark outside: the gentle patter of steady rain on paving and foliage, the slower, heavier drip of the drains, and the occasional distant hiss of tyres on wet tarmac

Surprisingly mild for this time of year, just went out to throw stuff in the recycling box and it was still shirtsleeve weather out there at 10.00 pm.

Bright but crisp here this morning. I have to go to the Post Office later. I think a stroll along the river on the way back may be in order.

Overcast and the wind picked up again today at the school's suburb but no rain and a few degrees warmer - the heater isn't running as much tonight and I'm not as cold which is a minor miracle.

Today it stayed overcast and the thunder passed, then it got colder and rain set in from this afternoon, for the entire 90 minute trip home.
Just seen tomorrow's forecast and it'll be a nice morning, then another cold front will pass through.

I headed out to the dentist at 10:30, and it was lovely. Sunny, warm, delightful day.
Left the dentist about 12:00, and the wind has picked up and it looks ready to chuck it down any moment. Got home just in time, I think.

Pretty "bleugh" at the moment. I have scheduled an outdoor painting job for the weekend, but the client and I have agreed that it is weather dependent...

Gorgeous again today. This is getting eerie... However this does tend to be the nicest weather here, mid-August to mid-October.

Urgh, horribly grey here today, and when it wasn’t actually raining there has been constant drizzly nastiness. To top it off I was stranded in Swindon this afternoon when my rail line was blocked by a land slip which happened in the 2 hours between my inward and outward journeys. So I spent all together too much time in Swindon in the rain, a situation I would not recommend.

Not desperately keen on Swindon at the best of times!
Rain, rain and more rain here again today. Dig manage to walk Lucy the Yorkie whilst it was not quite so heavy a short while ago but, even if wasn't feeling unwell, I wouldn't be rushing to go out anywhere today.

I remember that you and I live in fairly close proximity, Martin, so I expect you’ve had the cracking thunderstorm we’ve been treated to this morning. Just when I needed to walk into town for an early optician appointment. So I went from wet and stranded in Swindon yesterday to just wet in Tetbury this morning. I wanted a bit more summer before all this started up!

There was thunder here earlier, and we have tracked it across the country to the Bristol area. BBC weather forecasters often refer to the 'M4 corridor', and this storm did seem to follow that road quite closely!
I remarked to a neighbour yesterday that it often seems like August is wet, and the sun comes out tge moment the kids go back to school. Not so this year!

Similar to Australia where when our kids return to school in late Jan/early Feb, is when the hottest weather comes. Or the ever changing weather with thunderstorms and down pours at school pick up time.
