Overcast this morning, can see there's been a bit of rain, just how much comes across the day remains to be seen (and if I get wet at all walking to/from the library where I volunteer, through suburban streets and really no shelter)

Dull here too, but not raining so that's good. We've had some lovely thunderstorms this week.

After the dreaded rain forecast from earlier in the week, the weekend has turned to be quite nice. Sure, the temperature dropped a bit but the rain missed most of the city, enabling me to do quite a lot yesterday.

Overcast, but still enough sunlight getting through to the panels. Cool breeze. May need long trousers soon.

For the first time for a couple of months, today I put a thin shirt on over my T shirt, and last night actually wore a garment in bed.

Long trousers are not yet under consideration here, and neither indeed are garments in bed.
It always feels morally wrong to cover my knees during the summer holidays, and it would have to be a dismal day indeed before I resorted to jeans.

Quite baggy trousers with multiple pockets especially here.

Glad I painted the garden table on Saturday. Been on and off rain most of today here. Went over next door to wish Little Brother happy birthday (61 today) just now and the dog was wanting me to go out in the garden with her. I opened the door and she rapidly changed her mind!

My cat in England, when I opened the back door and he saw it was raining, would immediately ask to be let out of the front door and would glare at me indignantly if it was raining there too.

Deceptive today, looked warm, looking out the window, but a breeze made it still feel like winter, especially towards dusk.

Fine today, cloud built up, then some rain tonight, though it should all pass overnight and tomorrow is set to get to 20 C or a bit more.

I thought of you,RLD, when they were talking about Lilian. I hope all is well.
Yesterday was positively October-like, with wind and a lot of rain. Breezy but sunny today.

Very Septemberish here today - getting a little cooler and less humid. Very nice T shirt weather.

Today has been really quite pleasant, but the weather forecast for tomorrow is more or less "Don't bother getting out of bed". There is talk of flooding, interruption to "power supplies and other services", and all the rest of it. Don't you just love so-called summer in England?

I thought of you,RLD, when they were talking about Lilian. I hope all is well. It's fine with me, as far as I know! I'm not aware of any roof damage that I didn't have already. (There's something up there that rattles alarmingly in even a light wind.) Apparently there are a LOT of trees down and roads still closed. The Bolton Food and Drink Festival was supposed to open on Friday, but that was impossible after the storm blew the stalls and things all over the town centre. The council was saying it might have to be called off, but after a huge effort the stallholders and local businesses got it all put back together over the course of the day, and it will open on Saturday. Fantastic work! Not that I intend to go. If you're not attending the special events, it boils down to wandering around a load of food stalls, which isn't that thrilling. Not worth blowing out an arthritic knee, anyway. www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/24539317.bolton-food-drink-festival-will-open-tomorrow/

...until 4pm today.
Now here's a thing.
Saturday has dawned. It's not very nice, and there has been some rain during the night. But the predicted Armageddon has not as yet come to pass, and those dark clouds with double raindrops are now forecast to be gone by 1300.
One of two things has necessarily happened. Either the Met Office got it wrong as usual (lending further support to my pet notion that it is unworthy of my tax money), or it was scaremongering (and the crying of wolf is not a proper use of my tax money either).
The Met Office is not the only weather forecasting service available. None of them is much good, but the taxpayer funded Met Office is not significantly better than the others. If the thing simply can't be done, then don't do it. If it can be done but the commercial sector can do it just as well as the state, then why is the state doing it?

Rained a fair bit overnight. You can tell it's bad when JJ sticks his nose out of the door you've just opened for him, decides that he doesn't need a pee that much, then looks at you like you're stupid and turns around and goes back to his comfy chair.
The Met Office heavy rain icon is now showing until noon when it becomes a light shower icon until 4pm.
As suze says above, none of the forecast sites are much cop so I'm not planning my day around it.

Lovely day here, reached 22 C. I did multiple trips back and forth to/from the shops and then one to the hardware/garden store for a bag of potting mix.

It's been pretty much ideal round here the last few days. Raining at night, then bright and clear all day. The paving outside is mildly damp, but there is little evidence of wind or rain anywhere else...
Half an hour later; Spoke too soon, rather grey overhead now....
Several hours later; Nothing came of the grey clouds, nice summer day so far.

A lot of steady rain most of tge day. I had to go to Eastbourne fir part 2 of my radioactive medical examination. Gentle drizzle in places, but quite heavy rain in others. And still they drive with no lights on. As I write, the sun is breaking through <Heads out for a quick walk>
