Grey and overcast. But there has been enough sun to get our water hot, and power the house.

Pissing down with rain earlier, so much so that I had to cancel my plans.
Now that it's too late, the sun is shining in a perfect blue sky.

Chatting with a neighbour and we both decided to make the most of today's nice day. I got the bus to the suburb of the rose garden, did a few things there and on the trip back, alighted at the top of a hill here to get a nice bay view photo (for those on FB, my new cover shot) The neighbour got the train a few stations away and walked back along the beach path.

It was mostly sunny, then rainy, the sunny, then rainy, then windy, then windy and rainy. Then the next 30 minutes was the same without the wind. Then the next without the rai, and so on. I believe a certain W Pooh of Ashdown would refer to the day as blustery………Oh bother.

From what I heard of our upcoming forecast, it sounds similar. No rain has hit my area yet though it was predicted sometime tonight and on/off tomorrow. We shall see....

We're up in the Wirral for a week in the caravan. We got up here and set up on Friday night. Looked really good, and we left stuff in the awning for setting up in the morning. Really heavy rain overnight, and we awoke on Saturday to find the whole pitch under 6" of water. Everything soaked, including the awning's interlocking foam tiles and carpet and most of our clothes. Had to take it all down, move to another pitch and then set up again while the site people fed all our stuff through a tumble dryer! Sorted now, and we are well practiced at putting up the awning...

....and they were right about the rain. I heard it start overnight and it's a decent downpour this morning when I have to get out in that and walk to the station to go to my voluntary work. (too close to the station to bother about a bus)

Well 90F didn't arrive but dark skies and likelihood of thunderstorms have. It might explain why my joints are aching so much today.

Just grey sky today, ground still wet from rain overnight. A bit more predicted today but yesterday was the major dumping of it. I went to the supermarket near the library yesterday in the rain....( had a coat, still got wet)

We're up in the Wirral for a week in the caravan. PDR What? PDR north of Watford? Voluntarily? Seeks smelling salts... Not only that - we're actually buying a house in Liverpool (for 1st-borne to live in while she completes her PhD) as that seems to be the simplest way of getting her out of rather naff halls, as well as being a handy place to park some cash for a few years until I retire. We bought a small caravan a few months ago - now that the kids have flown we only need space for us and the dog. It's an unusual one called an " Adria Action 361". We've used it for long weekends with a small "porch awning" that's quick to set up, but it came with a full awning that's custom-tailored to this van's unusual shape and this is the first time we've tried it. We hadn't appreciated just how big it was - it's much wider than anything we've had before, and frankly has more room than the awnings we've previously had on much bigger caravans: PDR

That's a massive awning space.
I haven't been camping for a long time on the grounds that at my age I need to get up at least once during the night to pee and I don't fancy having to walk across a campsite.

That's a massive awning space. I haven't been camping for a long time on the grounds that at my age I need to get up at least once during the night to pee and I don't fancy having to walk across a campsite. The caravan may be small, but it has a well-appointed "bathroom" with a comfortable toilet and an effective shower, so that isn't a problem for us. We have excellent heating and hot water, although this particular site is "off piste" for us in that it only has mains power - we normally go for "super-pitch" sites where we can plug in mains power, mains water and water drainage, so on this site we're using their showers to avoid the need for frequent replenishment of the water container (and emptying of the waste water container). We also have 60Mb internet and wifi from our 4G router*, so the TV can stream any of our normal services using a roku stick (caravan broadcast TV systems are always pretty rubbish), and of course we have the SkyGo facility so that I can watch Grand Prix (basic minimum requirement, frankly). The router and the TV both run from the 12v supply rather than the mains, so they will still work even where we have no mains - we once parked up in a motorway service station and popped into the van for an hour to watch F1 qualifying whilst en route. We also bring the Amazon Echo Pop from the kitchen so we can set alarms, reminders and listen to radio 4. So we have most basic comforts and can accommodate both baking hot and cold/rain. PDR * This is the Huwei 535B 4G router that I bought to allow better working from home at the start of Covid lock-down when the domestic broadband network infrastructure couldn't handle the demand. It has an unlimited data-only SIM and we use it to provide wifi in the kitchen which doesn't get the house Wifi due to the flint in the walls. It also happens that the roku stick we use in the caravan is taken from the kitchen TV, so they all just work together without any need to re-enter network details.
