We have had bright sunshine interspersed with occasionally torrential rain. At one point it was coming down so hard I could hardly see across the garden which is probably less than 10 metres. On several occasions I have been outside to try and scare off one of the local squirrels, who comes and nicks the bird food. If our neighbours look out at tge right time they will probably find great amusement in seeing me hurtle across the garden squirming water from an old Fairy liquid bottle.

We've not had the torrents that tetsabb has - those are tomorrow for us, apparently - but sunshine and heavy showers here as well.
Lunchtime happened to be during one of the sunny bits, so I took myself for a lap of the school grounds. This is a thing which I try to do at least once a week. I've never measured the circuit but it won't be far off one mile, and in fact it was a bit further today because I went via my car. The fields looked a bit muddy to be walked in my classroom shoes, so I switched them for trainers first.

Been the same here too. There was one almighty gust of wind just before 3pm. Nearly took the windows out. It did take the bins halfway up the road.

Rain, rain, rain all day. We did rather need it though.

My teacher friend and I try to do this too around the oval or up the carpark and to the dumpster bin at the end but often now with my half hour lunch break being in class time (when the asst principal's wife comes in to relieve me in the library) it's not possible to go together, so sometimes I've done it on my own. Sometimes just half the circuit or just up to the back gate.

Pleasant enough today - high 60s/low 70s. The trees are starting to change colour - I'll get some pictures in a week or so when they're more spectacular, though they probably are already around Efros's way.

There she was, dew-kissed with perspiration, flushed from recent frantic activity and fairly reeking of Vegemite as she scurried back from behind the dumpster bin and burst shallow-breathed into the library just in time to accept some blessed relief from the principal's wife before staggering dreamily into a quiet corner to regain her composure in the 790s (Recreational and performing arts).
Sorry.
These vignettes pop into my mind unbidden from time to time.

Very good, except that I can't eat Vegemite anymore. And quiet corner? That's the very spot the kids aren't allowed!

Glorious sunshine since first thing. And expected to last all day. Same here today for once, a great day for the Aussie football grand final. Sadly it won't last, with more rain due tomorrow.

What makes it a no no if you don't mind my asking?

Too strong, as in what it's made from. One of the first things I had to give up early on. Jam and peanut butter soon followed due to acidic factors/fats/oils.

The heating went on for the first time yesterday. Didn't stay on long, but the cats were happy.

TGH is campaigning for the heating to come on here as well. I am reluctant while it's still September and there is cricket from England filling the television screen, but the temperature did get down to 4 °C last night.
It's October on Tuesday. Perhaps the campaigner should get back to me then.

My heating has been “on” all year, for the last couple of years thanks mostly to a heating engineer’s advice, we now control it through the thermostat, so in evenings like the other day where it dropped quite quickly we had comfort.

We never actually turn ours off as such - just keep the thermostat turned right down in the summer.

Rain was not forecast for today, but I can hear it hitting the window. Shame, cos I was going to take a wander along the river.

Today's forecast here was overcast but mostly fine. A small chance of showers so I still took the raincoat but left it at the library when we went to the place for our excursion today. And no sooner were we settled at a table, all the crackers, dips etc spread out, than it started drizzling. Had that been it, it would have been ok. It stopped a bit, the main lass said 'right, we're moving', everyone grabbed a couple of things to move and then the rain stopped again, and stayed away.
Melbourne weather!

It is now October. It's not a very nice day, and there has been rain on and off - on, right now - but it is noticeably less cold than it was a couple of days ago.
To the heating have we not yet resorted.

It's been raining for days now. Not stormy, and it doesn't seem to come down especially hard, but it's been pretty steady. There are flood alerts all over the Greater Manchester area, including a couple within just a mile or two of me.

Another lovely fall day. Leaves are turning but we're not at peak colour yet. I walked down to the postbox today to post a friend's birthday card - about half a mile each way so not far - and it was such a pleasant walk. My hearing aids are connected to the sound from my phone, so I was able to listen to the radio on my phone all the way there and back, which made it more interesting.

When I got up, it was foggy enough that I couldn't see the other side of the river a quarter mile away. %0 minutes later it is clear enough to see the treeline over a mile away...

Today's lovely warm weather won't last, unfortunately. There's a 90% chance of rain tomorrow and I'm still waiting to see if I go to the music library or not.
If not wet or not too bad where I live, then I'll leave around 8.45, no one has said they're coming or want anything posted. And although my assistant is back from his UK jaunt, without the music that my mum was going to give me, there's not much for him to do otherwise and it's an hour's drive for him. So he'll pass tomorrow.

Bright and warm. I went and sat by the - quite high and very fast flowing - river for an hour or so earlier. It was quieter than usual because the water was almost level with the weir so there was no raging torrent.
