A place for putting all those weird and whacky things that happen while we snooze....

Last night I came up with the word L'owline. I was doing a crossword, but I don't recall what the clue was.....

Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again. It seemed to me I stood by the iron gate leading to the drive, and for a while I could not enter, for the way was barred to me.

I was in a discount store and couldn't even get in at first, the entrance being blocked by a woman in a wheelchair. Then the rest of her group came and they blocked the exit. I saw a stand of cat treats and then realised that there was only one staircase up, the other was an escalator style one that I thought at first led to a supermarket, but it was to this discount store.

I was some kind of stage manager at a place where Bill Bailey was putting on a show. Some people arrived late and Bill decided to restart the show but first he needed to take a break so he and I went for a drive in an open horse-drawn carriage with a couple of people I did t know. I’m not sure we ever got back to the theatre. That poor audience is probably still sitting there wondering what became of us.

I was walking down an aisle/laneway, got a phone number that had to be added to a long list. Then I saw brave people flying over a fence, like they were in a hot air balloon.

I was at an event like a graduation and after pushing hard to be the student giving the speech, realised that I didn't want to do it. My mother came up to the podium with me, I had no prepared notes but thought I'd be ok. I started my speech with 'class of 2024, we're really there'.

I don't often remember my dreams, but for the second time in a week I dreamed about a celebrity - in this case, Stephen Colbert. He and I were walking together somewhere and then squeezed into a very crowded vehicle - not a car but something else - and I ended up leaning back on him.

This dream was so real while it was happening...and now I can only remember a few bits.
I was eating meat with some Americans and it's the wrong season for being in a park here.
Also an old house that the owner said she wasn't going to sell after all, despite being in a country town that gets colder in winter than Melbourne. Then I saw some clothes left on a heater, and one top was catching fire. I tried to put out the small fire but it kept re-igniting.

I was working my way through a little songbook, the pages kept slipping back and titles were wrong.
I wanted a photo of ships being repaired but a friend of mine was sitting in it and didn't want to be in the photo so she moved.

Somebody was making a wacky sitcom based on 1984 -- yes, Orwell. I wanted to be offended, but to be honest it was a very funny show.

You should write it down quickly before you forget RLD - there could be money in that!

Largely sleepless night due to the early start of a viral bug (hay fever turned out to be that) and a local playing Saturday night thumping music for much the night, until 2am at least. Not sure if it was from a house or car - they park out the front/opposite in the pool's car park and have a party too.
However, closer to dawn I did dream this:
The volunteer leader from the history library had a device that could pick up multiple small things like round bits of a kids breakfast cereal. She warned me to not let this thing go as it could pick up things we didn't want.

Strange one in the early hours of the morning. SWSOIWLTB was running a car workshop, and doing quite well at it, and yet she had asked me to advise her regarding a sports car she was thinking of buying. I inspected the car, which had some fairly serious corrosion issues, so I told her, but she still wanted to try it out for herself, but with me there as well.....
Earlier, I was trying, with a group of people, to get home to the old crissdee Towers via the North Circular from Beckton in east London. For reasons not made clear, the road had been entirely dug up, leaving only a footpath exactly the same size as the old road, including slip roads. It began to rain, so we stopped at Barking, where all the roads were still present, and a full bus service was running...

I was sitting on one of the benches near the shop and toilets at "work" when a young lady came up and sat near me. I could tell she was worried about something so I was thinking of offering to get her a drink or something. Unfortunately, the dream ended at this point, so I never found out what was up!

The last bit of this dream involved me walking down a shopping street in the suburb where I grew up and I noticed staff at the small supermarkets all wearing yellow balloon - like bags on their heads, apparently protection for the next hold up/armed robbery.
A person was wanting to get off the bus at this area too but missed the stop.

A bit of a "meta-dream", in that I dreamed I was hanging out with the guys from Orange County Choppers, and told them that I had dreamed about them recently...

I had a fairly strange dream in which I saw an Apollo-type spaceship take off, allegedly bound for the Moon. The BBC news explained that President Trump (aaarghhh) had kept the mission secret until blastoff.
The spaceship then landed on the River Thames in London, except that it had by now become a hovercraft. The "astronauts" did boat stunts for a few minutes, drove their craft right through a riverside restaurant, and then took off for space once again. A Conservative MP who just happened to be standing next to me admitted that he had been responsible for the whole thing, as an election publicity stunt.
If we really were sending a spaceship to the Moon today, would it actually look like the 100 meter tall Apollo / Saturn V vehicles of the 70s?

I stand to be corrected, but I don't think our technology has advanced enough for any moon-bound craft to be much different from Saturn V. Maybe not quite so big, but still the same in principle.

Artemis has tested the lauch vehicle and yes, it's a rocket.
Artemis I was an uncrewed flight test of the Space Launch System and the Orion spacecraft around the Moon.
Artemis II will be the first crewed flight test of the Space Launch System and the Orion spacecraft around the Moon.
Artemis III will send the first humans to explore the region near the lunar South Pole.
Artemis IV debuts humanity's first lunar space station, a larger, more powerful version of the SLS rocket, and new mobile launcher.

I was walking around a shopping centre, topped up my transport card. Then saw a chemist advertising a tonic that Shakespeare used. The pharmacist was on a step stool getting boxes of medication.

I saw a cat item from a bakery for $3.20, a fellow asked me to wait while he did the transaction.
My mother then said they weren't wrong about the weather.

A disparate group of us, men (including Stephen Fry), women, children, and small cartoon animals, were in a large log cabin in Argentina, under siege by the locals. We were armed, and I had shot a few of the enemy, but our food supplies seemed to be running low, inasmuch as our evening "meal" was a couple of square inches of meat, and a chip, like a single chip....
It ended without resolution, but I suspect it was not unrelated to my current parlous financial state....

Likewise my dream from two nights ago. Shopping centre/transport card related to the recent Sydney trip. Shakespeare - the book I'm currently reading. (Judi Dench's 'autobiography' of sorts)

I was in a vaguely familiar workshop, with some vaguely familiar people, collecting up my tools which had been "borrowed" in my absence. "The Impossible Dream" was playing in the background, so I woke up with that stuck in my head. I now have a crappy 80s pop song there instead.

I was training a horse for the Olympic dressage and under quite a lot of pressure to get it stepping properly (or whatever the hell that's called). This is so far outside my range of experience and interest I don't really know what else to say about that except of course the obvious current Olympic thing.
