I didn’t know all that so thanks for the info. When removing the unnecessary bits, do you remove the question mark or leave it there?

The question mark goes, together with everything that follows it.
The two examples that Bondee gives a few up illustrate what can be deleted.

I don't know enough about these things to do them that way, if I remove part of the link, it's likely to come up as not accessible for you when it may appear fine for me as some things are also Australia -limited. It's literally as easy as I wrote. I'm sure you can highlight text and hit delete.
Let's try an experiment. Reply to this post with a link to a story from Facebook, any story. Then trim the link as I described and post that too. As Dix recommended, you can try the shortened link in another browser tab/window before you post it.
We'll see how it comes out and go from there.

On X, I often use the 'shift-windows squares-S' combo to capture a specific part of an image, and then post it using 'control-V'. I wish I could use it here. Now I have to save an image to My Documents and insert it that way. Meaning that I have to clean up My Images regularly to get rid of unwanted crap. Help?!

I use gyazo, easiest way to get stuff online from an image cap.

ProBoards doesn't let you post directly from your clipboard.
I'd suggest changing your default storage destination to your desktop, which makes it easier to clean up temporary pictures and other downloads. For downloads you want to save, you can move them to more permanent storage.

It lets you post text directly from the clipboard. It doesn't let you post pictures (image files) at all as far as I can see - it expects you to use an image-hosting site or similar and then post a link in IMG tags (like QI did) unless I'm missing something.

That's what I meant, posting pictures.
Posting from an URL works best, but you can post directly from your own computer as an attachment. Attachments tend to come out as small thumbnails, but viewers can click on them to see the full-sized picture in a new tab.

Ah that's good to know - I wouldn't have even thought to try that.

There's a typo in the scrolling news box at the top of the home page...
"... please ask to be add3d to the KWC group for access."

Just mentioned this in general banter, but I deleted it because this seems like a more suitable place to ask...
We've ended up with two each of the "happy news", "today I learnt..." and "I want to have..." threads.
Is it possible to merge them?

I'm not very impressed with the search function here, unless I haven't worked out how to use it properly. I wanted to find a picture I posted of the groundhog who lives in my garden, and couldn't remember the name of the thread I posted on, so I used the search term groundhog and my username but that brought up no posts. I now remember the name of the thread so I'm off to look for it...

It was in a post on that thread and an accurate search would have taken me straight to the thread because the word doesn't appear elsewhere on the site.

It must be a special Admin Annoy feature. I searched just now and found your post. And all the posts above...

I also did the search, and it turned up all the relevant posts above - but nothing in the other board, where jenny originally posted. So then I went to that board, found the Hedgehogs thread, and repeated the search. This time it turned up the three posts on page 1 of the Hedgehogs thread that include the word 'groundhog' - but still nothing from page 2, and this time nothing from the Welcome board. So it certainly seems to be behaving rather strangely.

You can start a health based thread in General Banter. As for your first suggestion, I think you can set up an alert that notifies you of replies to your posts, but I'm not sure how. Maybe barbados can point you in the right direction. Assuming, of course, that's what you meant.
Ignore that last bit. There's plenty of things the forum can notify you about, but replies to your post isn't one of them.
Profile > Edit Profile > Notifications, if you give a sh... you-know-what.

As Bondee has already said, you're welcome to start a discussion about any health issue that's of interest to you, but there is a little bit of a but to go with that.
As far as I know, no one on this forum is a medical doctor. If you ask for advice about a health issue from people who are not medical doctors, that advice tends to go one of two ways. You might get dubious advice - or even downright dangerous advice, like the suggestion that you should drink bleach* - which has come straight from someone's fundament. (For the avoidance of any possible doubt and to cover your moderators' arses, do not drink bleach.) Alternatively, you might get the much more sensible - if slightly dull - advice that you'd do better to ask the question to a medical doctor. On this particular forum, the latter is more likely.
So that's something to bear in mind, but feel free to start a discussion on whatever is of interest to you.
* Donald Trump never actually quite made that suggestion, but he wasn't a million miles away.

okay, I guess I just can't believe that this forum doesn't have a health and well being section that's not to say that I believe all forums come standard with a health section, but it affects all of us in different ways. I'm just confused by the fact we don't have one

Because most of us use the existing venting or how was your day to discuss health issues. (had an appointment, this or that hurts etc)

Emily you could start a health-related thread in General Banter. I'm sure a lot of others with health issues they'd like to talk about might join you there.
