Komodo dragons have metal-tipped teeth! At least, they have very high deposits of iron at the tip and along the serrated edge of each tooth, which seems to be protective against breaking and chipping.

Now, see, this sort of thing is why we need a Quite Interestrings type thread/forum because that's an amazing fact and it's hiding away in a little travelled corner being inconspicuous!

Well, that's how I see the "Strange things" thread -- links to interesting and unusual things around the web. Things that are cool to share, but the poster can't provide much information beyond "wow, look at that".
The Quite Interestrings stuff is in the "Do you know something..." board, where people can write up their own stuff.
I’d say that the information you gave was both strange and interesting in equal measure, which is best described as “hugely”. Thanks for sharing, but one question that springs to mind, what on earth were you googling to discover that?

You're fully entitled to post what you want where you want - it was just that in my mind 'Strange things on the internet' is for stuff like batman riding a unicorn (only much, much less commonplace) and since what you posted was actual science...
Whatever.
Mental note: iron is sequestered into hard tissue in at least two species - volcano snails and Komodo dragons.
I think the “not a lot of people know that” prompts a conversation with the OP. It implies some knowledge on the subject rather just stumbling across something that is interesting. Or at least that is the way that things seem to have developed over the last couple of weeks.
That was how that thread developed in the original boards and this one too.
I just put things here I think are interesting.
Like this one for the Games - can you spot the four archers in the image? (hint - if you keep reading down the article, the answer is given so don't do that unless you need to know)

I'm a Fellow of the Zoological Society of London, and that particular article was posted on the ZSL's Facebook feed. So it came to me!
