Hello all,
Having received the 'All Stations' email, I considered that the forum house move was probably as good an opportunity as any to pop in and say "hello all". Which I did. Very happy to see so many familiar names. The faces? Not so much  . Those who don't know me or remember me, you may consider yourselves lucky.
Many changes since I last showed my own face in QI-Land. I got the Doctorate and made full use of it by promptly catching Covid and then developing Long Covid. I am now disabled and about to be medically retired from the Civil Service (Ministry of Justice). One feature of the LC I have is poor concentration and typing skills, so I apologise in advance for typos and sentences that fall off the beaten path halfway through. I can still spell and use English, but apparently that no longer transfers to using a keyboard.
JanetH and myself are still happily together, and the degus are still a fixture (albeit different individuals).
I'll probably not spend too much time here, but will drop by occasionally to scatter bomb a pun or several.

Sorry to hear about your covid troubles, Mike. That's a true bummer. I hope you're OK in your skin generally. Don't fret about typos - many do the same without that excuse. ;-)
As for tea - I rarely drink the stuff (am more an espresso person) but when I do, it's Lady Grey.

Yeah, it's something with my keyboard - when I type the apostrophe followed with the y, I get ý. To get it right I have to type 2 apostrophes, backspace, and then type the y.Typing the full name is easier. Just being lazy.;-)

I was aware of the LC because Janet sent me an e-mail a while back. I don't think I replied because I was at the bottom of a very deep pit of something dark. I won't go into detail here because I don't want to bring the mood down, but please apologise to Jan and send her my love, best wishes, etc.
If they're anything like that "lolling a wrong" monstrosity I've just read in the jokes thread, take your time. : p

Oh Mike I'm so sorry to hear about your medical woes, especially after all the work you put into obtaining your doctorate. Do please pop in whenever you feel like a chat. I doubt whether any of those now inhabiting these boards would care very much about typos or meandering sentences, but we would like to have your virtual company :-)

Assorted people that I am acquainted with had to face him, and three of them got out to him. One was hit on the arse by a ball that was heading down the leg side, and the rest of the team found this annoying. Not because the guy was hit - he wasn't injured - but because that ball would probably have gone for five wides had the batter not backed into it. But no one with whom I share a bed. That fellow has absolutely definitely and irrevocably retired, although he's threatening one guest appearance in an end of season friendly - as long as he doesn't have to bat.
